One of the biggest skincare myths is that you can use the same moisturizer on the face and body.

There is a big difference between the skin on the face and the body. The skin on your face is thinner and more delicate and has different needs. For example, tightening wrinkles on your body is usually not a common concern.

Body and facial moisturizers are formulated differently. Unlike the face, the body has almost no sebaceous (e.g. oil) glands. Therefore, the primary job of a body moisturizer is to relieve dry skin. Because the body has no oil glands, it is important to create a product which provides a strong barrier to keep skin from losing moisture. However, this type of formula can be too heavy for the face and clog pores.

While body and face products may share some of the same basic ingredients, the functions they need to perform can be significantly different. Using the right product on the right skin will give you the best results.
